The primary purpose of the Development Specialist position is to review and process philanthropic gifts to the institution. This may include ID'ing, coding and posting of gifts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, researching donor identification and gift allocation, coding gift information, and posting gifts into the Development Office database. Additionally, this position will act as a back-up to the Lockbox Liaison and Institutional gifts processing. Other duties will include the processing of check requests and scanning and uploading of live checks. Works independently and assists other team members as necessary.
KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Review and process philanthropic gifts to the institution. This may include ID'ing, coding and posting of gifts and balancing of batches.
2. Process check requests for return or transfer of funds.
3. Scan/upload of gift checks via Virtual Remit, balance and create gift batches for processing.
4. Act as backup for the processing of the daily bank download, institutional gifts and quality assurance functions as needed.
5. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: One year of clerical, office, administrative, organizational, or related support experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Experience working for a non-profit organization and general database experience is preferred.
