Your Role and Responsibilities

The candidate will design, document, implement, test, and deliver compute solutions for the IBM cloud control plane as a member of the IBM Cloud Compute Team.

Responsibilities will include root cause investigation, resolution, and remediation of issues reported internally and externally by customers; enhancements to diagnostic software and tools for quicker root cause determination, development to ensure reliability and stability of the compute virtualization software architecture and components with a zero downtime goal.

Areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to the following:
Client reported issues in the areas of VM lifecycle, failure scenario detection and remediation, non-disruptive software upgrade, guest OS images, guest custom images, QoS, and the virtualization stack.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
* 2+ years of relevant software development experience
* Experience with large distributed systems
* Experience with Golang, Kubernetes, micro-services architecture, and Docker containers
* Experience with hypervisors/compute virtualization (e.g. KVM/libvirt/QEMU)
* Experience with Agile software development
* Strong debug skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, team oriented

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
* Familiarity with the Linux OS and RedHat Openshift,
* GitHub, JIRA , gRPC, RESTful APIs
