Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Quantum is an industry first initiative to build universal quantum computers for business, engineering and science. Role and Responsibilities:
Quantum System Performance Engineers work with Quantum System Architects, Theme/Squad Leads, and Product Owners to establish measurable performance goals to meet our key performance objectives.
Design and implement workloads reflecting actual client usage patterns in Qiskit-based programming models, then execute the programs, collect measurements, analyze, and monitor performance to evaluate and understand performance bottlenecks, and verify that the product's performance goals are met.
Design and develop benchmarks to systematically measure and compare system performance across multiple generations of hardware and software evolutions and at each level in the stack.
Work closely with development teams in a collaborative and agile team environment on the design and implementation and make recommendations to improve both hardware and software performance.
Develop and provide analytics for capacity planning and for managing policies for job control to achieve desired response time and throughput goals.
Share domain knowledge with the rest of the team to continually expand the overall group capabilities; in particular, in areas affecting system performance.
Participate in design and code reviews and write documentation.

This position is located in Yorktown Heights, NY or remote.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

3-5 years of experience in performance measurements, analysis, and monitoring of cloud-based and/or high-performance computing systems.
Experience with performance profiling tools, to improve program execution.
Experience in solving performance related issues in all parts of the stack, from the cloud to runtime to device drivers and at firmware level.
Excellent troubleshooting skills to understand and address performance bottlenecks.
Experience working with large data sets and modern data analytics tools.
Applied knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Typescript, C++, Rust
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Practitioner of agile development practices and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with team members to maintain high team velocity

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Experience working with statistical modeling tools.
Experience working with queuing models will be a plus.
Experience with open source Qiskit framework or other quantum computing programming environments.
Ability to visualize datasets to extract meaningful insights from measurements will be a plus.
Experience in tuning performance of parallel and multiprocessing systems
