Job Description

Facebook is seeking an Engineer to join our Release to Production (RTP) team. Our servers and data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure operates efficiently to deliver our innovative services. The RTP team is responsible for the Hardware Systems Lifecycle of all Facebook server and storage systems. Within RTP, The RTP Automation Framework Engineers work closely with hardware designers & systems engineers to build continuous test frameworks. Our tools and frameworks deliver to Facebook service owners, and data center teams. The objective is to ensure that production engineering teams have reliable, performant and secure systems and solutions for their production use cases.

Production Systems Engineer Responsibilities

* Build the test tools and automation frameworks to optimize development, integration, deployment and lifecycle management of HW Systems in FB data centers. Constantly work to improve throughput and reliability of our continuous test systems and processes.

* Provide the framework users with a rich user experience through data visualization and implement alerting solutions to solve hardware lifecycle health issue.

* Define the SW build systems and strategies for multi project source code management in early development across the OCP community.

* Drive necessary discussion with cross functional, external and internal teams on how to convert test specifications, strategies and methodologies into the continuous integration test systems that we build.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science

* 4+ years of experience in developing tools and services for automation

* Proficient in object oriented programming (Python or C++)

* Experience working in Linux Systems Environments

* Proficiency with Git or similar source management tools

* In depth troubleshooting and analytical experience

* Experienced in developing, monitoring and alerting systems for tracking systems through the data center life-cycle to build continuous improvement into the framework

Preferred Qualifications

* Experienced in developing tools and services for automation

* Experienced with leading-edge technologies & Microservices like Docker

* Experienced with JavaScript and PHP/Hack

* Experienced with REST/GraphQL/MySQL

* Experienced with Jenkins or similar automation framework

* Familiar with configuration management systems like Chef

* Familiar with Storage, Compute and Network Hardware Design and Development

* Familiar with lab equipment & tools like protocol analyzers and oscilloscopes

* Experience in data center production support at scale
