Facebook is hiring an FRL Policy Manager to join the Facebook Reality Labs Policy team. The team's mission is to guide development of emerging technologies across Facebook as we build the future of virtual and augmented reality products and services. This role will work closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional partners across the company to align on technical solutions and public policy considerations governing the products and research being developed across Facebook Reality Labs. The Manager will help develop internal safeguards and policy guidelines, build partnerships with external stakeholders, and facilitate legislative and regulatory advocacy. The ideal candidate is a constant learner, skilled at prioritizing, well-organized, good at navigating ambiguity, expert in juggling multiple tasks/timelines at once, and excited by new technologies. This candidate will be deeply familiar with global regulatory frameworks and have a meaningful understanding of stakeholders and perspectives in the policy community. This person is a great communicator, and organizer who excels at working collaboratively with executives, engineering/product teams, and policy colleagues alike and consistently delivers high-quality work under pressure. Experience supporting multiple teams or projects in a fast-paced environment in government or the private sector is essential.
Facebook Reality Labs Policy Manager, Devices Responsibilities
* Evaluate and provide guidance on the public policy implications of FRL products and services, with a focus on consumer hardware and devices
* Issue spot global policy implications, responsibility, and conformance with norms of the policy communities of new products and features
* Consult with policy stakeholders to improve our approach to building FRL products and effectively represent Facebooks perspective
* Review legislation and work with legislative teams on drafting positions
* develop proactive regulatory and legislative solutions
* Respond promptly to a wide range of requests from Product, Legal, Policy, Communications, and Business teams across the company
Minimum Qualifications
* 5+ years of public policy experience or 2+ years experience with advanced degree in similar field
* Familiarity with public policy issues governing consumer electronics
* Background in technology policy and knowledge on new and emerging technology
* Experience with creating policy analysis and public presentation
* Experience prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects under deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
* JD degree, Master's degree, or equivalent practical tech policy experience
* Familiarity with global privacy frameworks
* Experience planning and executing cross-functional initiatives
