The Group Technical Program Manager for WhatsApp Consumer will be responsible for defining and driving impactful engineering projects, solving complex systems problems and building platforms that power WhatsApp's software and infrastructure. You will tackle challenging issues of scale, reliability, and efficiency while delivering a delightful, simple user experience to a global user base. You also have the proven ability to go deep into mobile and web client architecture & infrastructure along with a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure. You will be expected to be a highly effective communicator, articulate & implement a clear direction in both product & technical dimensions, and build strong partnerships across cross-functional teams. The Group Technical Program Manager for WhatsApp Consumer will have both deep technical, program, and people management expertise that can drive results with agility and leadership. You will bring inspirational team leadership that can gain the support of stakeholder teams and task owners. You will have a span of influence over many dimensions as you engage to understand, solve and accomplish great things. Demonstrated experience building, developing, and mentoring technical program management or engineering teams of 10 or more, and a proven track record of scaling software or infrastructure in a highly transformative environment. Specifically, you will be an innovative, creative, and intellectually curious problem solver. You dont need to have the correct answer to everything but rather should be able to quickly drive the conversation toward a productive programmatic solution.

Group Technical Program Manager, WhatsApp Consumer Responsibilities

* Build and lead a team of TPMs capable of scaling with WhatsApp through a period of continued high-growth while forging tight partnerships with managers and engineers across product, client, and infrastructure teams.

* Influence strategy and vision for Consumer requirements at scale for WhatsApp in close collaboration with product, client, infra and other leaders across the company. Demonstrate an ability to structure an organization and optimize it for execution, including attracting top tier talent and filling out gaps in the existing team quickly to accommodate growth.

* Manage from the front, prioritize, and drive the bigger mission forward by translating vision into results.

* Manage, mentor and grow the existing technical program managers.

* Support technical aspects of critical initiatives and features in the Consumer space including contributing to design and implementation planning, working with the team to set priority and tracking progress, and working cross functionally to represent engineering.

* Work with Product Management and Engineering to help develop product MVP and ensure implementation scope and delivery times are aligned with product requirements and expectations.

* Measure and improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes that are working well and build the next level of improvements, set standards for deployments at scale, both for client and infrastructure reliability, security, efficiency, and scalability.

* Continue to improve the thriving engineering culture across all tech functions.

* Build and lead an organization with customer focus and effective communication with a focus on decisive, fast-moving solutions, quick and constructive resolutions to conflicts, and a no barriers mentality.

* Serve as an evangelist for the team and overall culture, both internally and externally.

Minimum Qualifications

* B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

* 10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience.

* 3+ years of experience as a People Manager.

* Experience either in an established consumer, cloud computing or mid-sized growth stage company.

* Experience communicating behind program architectures, including how and why they were run, and the systems put in place to run them.

* Knowledge in technical program management methodologies, experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.

* Experience moving technical or engineering programs from concept to completion and experience articulating the impact using metrics, growth examples, return.

* Experience with some combination of mobile development, web development, cloud computing, large-scale infra leveraging technologies such as Java, Swift, Python, Shell, C, C++, etc.

* Experience with scale, production with emphasis on Reliability, Efficiency, Scalability.
