Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position: To support, implement, and maintain Quality as well as Plant initiatives at HMTC in order to drive continuous improvement of Quality, Safety, Cost, Delivery, and Morale.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

This position will lead and provide support for Quality Engineering objectives as follows:

* Drive Continuous Improvement Activities with focus on 5s, Quality Improvement Projects, Inventory and Raw Material Inspection Improvements/Support, TL Audit Support, Customer Notifications
* Interface with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Warehouse to ensure quality systems are in place and effectively utilized.
* Interface with PLM, Sales and Technology.
* The position will report directly to the Quality Engineering Supervisor.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10% Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40hrs + per week

Required Education & Skills:

* High School or equivalent; 2 year technical degree preferred
* Required Years and Area of Experience: 1-3 years experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
* Creative/innovative problem solving
* Strong technical fundamentals
* Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
* Results oriented and high commitment
* The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly

Desired Skills:

* Knowledge of products, PQA philosophy and fundamentals
* Statistical analysis
* Solid understanding of the Kaizen and Quality systems at HMTC preferred.
