Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing a full range of complex respiratory care modalities centralized in the general and all acute care units. Independent clinical judgments and evaluation are required. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ KEY PERFORMANCE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: I. SERVICE EXCELLENCE Demonstrates the three service excellence competencies II. HOUSEWIDE REQUIREMENTS Meets the organization's expectations regarding house-wide requirements III. PROVISION OF SERVICES Demonstrates the ability to develop and implement an age appropriate plan of care using assessment and clinical skills, with the ability of evaluating the plan of care and making adjustments as the clinical setting changes. Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others. 3. Ability to remain calm and composed under stress. 4. Ability to respond to pages, telephones, and other auditory stimulation. 5. Ability to function when exposed to hazardous chemicals and/or biological materials. 6. Bending, lifting (10-30 lbs. minimum), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing and/or sitting. 7. Ability to discriminate color. 8. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurements). 9. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.

Voice mail ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED 1. A current Registered Respiratory Therapist license by the Texas Medical Board. 2. Graduate of a 2 year approved AMA School of Respiratory Care or nontraditional degree program. 3. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC at date of hire. 4. 2-3 years clinical experience preferred. 5. Must have current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
