Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service and proactive technical expertise to support Technology Organization systems, including implementation and upgrades, utilized by Plant Hatch and the Southern Nuclear Fleet. Systems could span across all functional areas within the nuclear organization (e.g. Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Document Management and Training) and include both applications and network/communication systems.

EDUCATION:

* Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Systems Technology and/or Information Technology is preferred

* Bachelors degree in Computer or Software Engineering is desired.

* An advanced degree is advantageous

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Experience with the following is required or desired:

* Various types of Microsoft applications and general broad knowledge of IT to troubleshoot application issues reported by the business (computers, networks, Windows servers, packaged applications, etc.) is required

* Windows Operating Systems and MS Application knowledge is required

* Developing/managing SQL queries is strongly desired

* Support Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases is preferred

* Providing primary support for fleet applications which includes implementing, integrating, and supporting vendor application solutions; Supporting Maximo and Primavera applications is preferred

* Basic programming skills preferred (C , C, JAVA, .NET, VB, Linux and SQL)

* Creating and maintaining mobile applications (MOBI)

* Implementing, integrating, and supporting vendor application solutions

* Supporting both Web and thick client solutions

* Supporting applications in a Citrix environment

* Troubleshooting and resolving hardware/network issues

* Supporting various communication systems (IP Networks, UHF/VHF Systems, VOIP, etc)

* TCP/IP Network communications use of VoIP and Microsoft Server system administration

* Configuring and supporting camera networks

* Establishing highly credible relationships with customers and team members.

* Managing competing priorities and requirements

* Working knowledge and understanding of IT Service, Customer model and IT organizational roles / responsibilities which work together to serve customer needs.

* Nuclear plant computer application/system support is an advantage

Required Abilities include:

* Ability to learn in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Must also be capable of learning computer applications in a quick and efficient manner

* Ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide on-call support 24/7 during on-call weeks.

* Ability to lift moderate loads per the SNC Safety Manual guidelines

* Ability to work independently of direct supervision

* Ability and willingness to work at alternate locations on short-term, temporary basis (other plant sites, corp). Occasional travel will be required (<25%).

* Ability to work in plant conditions that may include limited exposure to high temperatures and to radiation and/or radioactive contamination and meet appropriate clothing requirements

* Ability to build relationships, to communicate and work with individuals of various technical knowledge, with all levels of management, vendors, and other internal groups and customers and exhibit positive influence at all levels.

* Effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms

* Successful completion of Southern Nuclear Background Investigation (including criminal, drug and credit history/check) is required for employment

* Participation in Random Drug/Alcohol Testing is a requirement of employment

Primary Responsibilities include:

* Performing primary system administration for systems, servers or applications (support, requirements gathering, security, analysis, design, coding, implementation, maintenance, backups, troubleshooting, etc.)

* Supporting the life-cycle management of software applications and systems within the portfolio through implementation, support, maintenance and retirement of applications to ensure maximum value and reduced cost.

* Acting as Intermediate Project Manager to lead and manage resources in accordance with IT Business Plan. - Provide routine desktop support, including installation, break/fix, general troubleshooting and client support.

* Application development in .NET, C, C , JAVA and other languages as needed.

* Development/management of SQL queries for report development.

* Effectively and clearly document changes and maintain documentation for knowledge retention.

* Development of (write, edit, review and organize) technical documentation related to computer systems such as users' guides, technical manuals and instructional materials to ensure that the text can be understood by non-technical users.

* Provide routine hardware and software desktop/client support

* Provide frontline maintenance (reactive, preventative, and quality assurance) support as well as backup maintenance/installation coverage related to the local communication systems, network and associated equipment.
