JOB HIGHLIGHTS

Opportunity available for an Operations Team Leader at Georgia Power Plant McIntosh Combustion Turbine Site located in Effingham County, GA (near Rincon, GA). The Operations Team Leader position manages all aspects of simple cycle combustion turbine facility, which consists of eight (8) 80 MW ABB GT-11 N1 units, to meet GPC Generation goals, including safety, compliance, reliability, efficient operations, along with leading a team of General Plant Operators (GPOs) responsible for all operation and maintenance related activities at the site.

JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Team Leader is responsible for management, operations and maintenance of plant assets to provide safe, reliable and efficient electric generation to the Georgia Power/Southern Company system, including safety, environmental compliance, long term planning, budgeting, outage and maintenance scheduling / prep, material purchasing, system upgrades, employee training, labor relations and I.B.E.W. contract compliance and procedure development. This position provides leadership to the operating crews of General Plant Operators to maximize plant reliability and efficiency while complying with all safety, regulatory and environmental requirements. This individual will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance in support of GPC plant performance goals and strategic initiatives, along with supporting specific black-start capabilities of the units for the Georgia Power Transmission System.

This position will provide coaching through performance management for each member of the team, seeking to develop the employees skills. This position provides input to the Plant Leadership Team concerning potential work method, process, or equipment improvements that would contribute to the success of the Plant.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

* Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of all power plant equipment to maximize plant reliability and efficiency, while ensuring the plant is operated in compliance with all safety, regulatory and environmental requirements.

* Be responsible to keep the plant manager, department managers and Southern Company Fleet Operations informed of equipment condition, which have or could affect plant operation and availability

* Serve as the individual responsible for all aspects of plant Operations

* Be responsible for knowing and effecting all emergency plans such as Emergency Action Plan, Oil Spill Response Plan and Hazardous Spill Response Plan and coordinating these team efforts and assuring the safety of all plant personnel.

* Actively participate in the Work Management Process to ensure work is scheduled, executed safely, efficiently, and effectively.

* Act as an owner of the McIntosh Combustion Turbine site through effective and efficient operation, maintenance, and management.

* Be the primary contact for coordinating daily operations, maintenance, water chemistry, substation maintenance, transmission, Fleet Operations, and fuel handling activities.

* Lead projects which may include oversight and coordination of contract resources

* Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals and lead team to align their efforts with those goals.

* Must be available for callouts, some nights and weekend work required (including storm duty) and overnight travel in support of plant/generation needs

* Provide employees with regular feedback on performance, including coaching and intervention to reinforce expectations and develop acceptable behaviors.

* Ensure work activities are performed in accordance with approved written documents such as approved plant procedures and work order instructions.

* Encourage employees to develop a high level of craftsmanship with an emphasis on effective, efficient operations and maintenance, personnel safety, and equipment reliability.

* Provide on-the-job training and evaluation opportunities for employees.

* Maintain a high level of productivity within the work force.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

* High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

* Five years of power plant experience related to operations and maintenance activities is required

* In depth knowledge of operations and maintenance processes and practices is required

* Two years of simple cycle combustion turbine power plant experience is preferred.

* Previous Work Management experience preferred.

* Previous Project Management preferred.

* Previous Budget Management preferred

* Proven leadership (such as previous supervisory experience, leader of a project or assignment, or leadership role in a community organization) preferred

* Knowledgeable of company policies and procedures in the areas of safety, operations, timekeeping, and administrative areas,

* Thorough understanding of the contractual agreement between Georgia Power and the I.B.E.W.

* Ability to analyze critical situations, determine competent solutions and supervise the implementation of the solutions in a safe and effective manner.

* Ability to work effectively in a team environment

* Strong communication skills

* Formal education or extensive power plant experience preferred.

* Knowledge of both capital and O&M budget processes.

* Knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and OSHA regulations.

* Ability to serve as incident commander during emergency situations.

* Must be able to work shift work, nights, and weekends as required

* Individual will have to become fluent in the use of the following applications to perform essential job functions; GDIS-Generation Data Information System, GenView, SYSTAT, Web GADS, GPC Documentum -Drawings and Contracts
