Our location in Auburn, NY currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Manufacturing Process Development Engineer within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business. The Sr. Manufacturing Process Development Engineer will be responsible for ensuring production teams have the right technical resources, reliable equipment, most robust methods & support structure to enable production to safely manufacture the most cost-effective products at the highest yields in the most efficient manner. Work across the organization driving and collaborating with functions in Development, Operations, Quality, Facilities, etc. to ensure the successful execution of our business/site operations strategy and goals, identify and drive process improvement strategies and activities related to product flow, yield, productivity, product costs, simplification, etc., to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules of the assigned production equipment and/or process(es), ensuring compliance of standards and regulations
WHAT YOULL DO
Be responsible for multiple projects associated with process development, improvement and/or optimization at a site that manufactures device components and/or products for cardiac implantable devices with strict Regulatory Compliance requirements.
Be responsible for identifying and qualifying processes for product, process and/or equipment as well as troubleshooting issues, identifying causal components driving yield, productivity, cost effectiveness, throughput time etc., related to product, process and/or equipment.
Conceptualize complete solutions, using systems thinking to create and/or coordinate the solutions for novel or complex problems; exploring multiple alternatives and building business case(s) to drive business decisions.
Projects involve leading collaborating with cross-functional teams developing test plans, leading root cause analysis and participating in investigations. Also making presentations to internal/external customers, vendors, and senior management
Independently, or lead a project team to, identify, plan and conduct small, medium as well as large size projects that require custom, risk-managed execution plans, investigations and/or equipment; manage multiple, often concurrent, projects.
Support the set-up and optimization of machines/equipment/processes, supporting production and quality standards, monitoring production processes for deviations in attainment, and troubleshooting production problems.
Coaches and mentors less experienced engineers, technicians, operators, etc. to help them use, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and/or optimize production equipment and/or resolve problems.
Drive process optimization paving the way leveraging statistical process control methods
Co-lead Maintenance & Operational Excellence initiatives is responsible areas(s)
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to all levels of the organization are required in leading cross-function team and communicating project status
Proven track record of successful collaboration and leadership to cross-functional teams to advance complex projects to completion.
Excellent organizational, leadership, teamwork, written and verbal communication skills together with demonstrated ability to work in a highly matrix team environment with enthusiasm and a proactive positive attitude.
Experience in project management including the ability to manage multiple projects, strategically prioritize activities and leading cross functional teams within Operations/Manufacturing/Engineering & Quality
Demonstrated experience in Process / Equipment optimization
Experience with Six Sigma methodologies, process capability, process validation and process monitoring, scale-up, and/or technology transfer experience, PFMEA
Demonstrated leadership skills ability to influence outside of reporting structure
Strong experience and knowledge in quality systems requirements in process engineering and/or process manufacturing in a highly regulated environment is desirable.
This position requires the ability to collect information from multiple sources, sort through, integrate, and resolve often conflicting requirements, and drive an organization through the various issues to result in a successful process and/or production introduction and/or optimization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING
Required
Minimum of Bachelors Degree (BS) in Chemical, Biochemical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 7+ years experience in an engineering or production role in a manufacturing process for life sciences products
