We currently have an opportunity for an Operational Excellence Specialist in Greater Chicago area. The Operational Excellence Specialist supports the management of the companys business excellence program, tools and culture and is responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing manufacturing and business process that improve process flow and efficiency, increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce the work-in-process and improve fill-rates thus contributing to overall site cost reduction.
WHAT YOULL DO
* Creates project plans, directs project execution, identifies risks and communicates to relevant stakeholders.
* Utilizes value stream mapping, capacity plans and other analysis tools to identify opportunities for improvement.
* Demonstrates operational excellence principles in their own work (for example 5S, Standard work, continuous improvement, kaizen and value stream mapping).
* Influences culture in their projects or business units and across site.
* Assesses the health of the organizations system deployment across the site and makes suggestions for improvement.
* Works with the business excellence and other teams to improve systems.
* Designs and deploys leaning training programs.
* Coaches other employees/supervisors on lean tools, problem solving and productivity improvement.
* Understands Lean principles and tools and develops knowledge through study, benchmarking and participation in external seminars.
* Recognized as SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Lean.
* Shares best practices and setting standards across the Site and wider network.
* Works within a team using well established practices and tools.
* Lead/co-lead and support training for technical staff
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING
Required
* Bachelors Degree in related discipline and or relevant professional experience.
* Demonstrated technical experience
* Internship or coop preferred
* Excellent knowledge of Lean technical principles and application of concepts, practices and procedures including root cause analysis, Kaizen, 5S, Value stream mapping and standard work principles.
* Problem solving skills where analysis of data requires a review of identifiable factors and ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and impact to systems environment.
* Ability to cultivate a wide range of internal networks and extensive external networks of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
* Experience with coaching and mentoring of other employees and staff members as well as implementation of employee idea program.
* Experience with delivery of concepts, and business case proposals to internal customers, and management to influence program implementation for efficiency and improvement.
* Ability to work within a team using well established practices and tools.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred
* Three years of professional experience.
* Previous experience working in a regulated industry and understanding of GMP (good manufacturing practices).
* Lean/certifications.
