The Admissions Representative is responsible for all registration functions related to patients presenting for admissions, emergency care, short stay and outpatient services including obtaining/verifying patient demographic information and insurance, obtaining required signatures and the collection of applicable co-pays, deductibles and deposits. The representative may also be responsible for the coordination of bed assignments for patients in the hospital including transfers, direct admits, ER admits, etc.
Data entry and/or secretary/receptionist experience helpful. Up to 6 months on-the-job training plus periodic updating is provided. Previous experience in customer service or healthcare environment beneficial. Communication skills, clerical accuracy, Public Relations aptitudes, scheduling, sound judgment. Ability to do several tasks at once, ability to handle multiple priorities with interruption and complete accurately and timely. Good telephone manner. Medical terminology and knowledge of insurance helpful.
