Job Description

The Manager, Marketing Communications is responsible for implementing strategic community relations and sponsorship initiatives to retain and increase loyalty of existing customers and grow brand visibility to attract potential new customers. Oversees high-profile activities in marketplace, creating positive company image and reputation to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Trade Shows/Special Programs

* Manage B2B and B2C Trade Show & Event life cycle - strategy, research, vendor management, logistics planning, promotion, internal and external communications. Attend and oversee booth activity at these events, analyzing and report on performance of trade show activity

* Create, direct and execute TAs annual Citizen Driver Award Program, overseeing budget and managing associated invoicing

* Assists in execution of other TravelCenters of America strategic on-site events, including grand opening celebrations, managing budget and promotional support

Sponsorships

Manages Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities with Fleet Sales Department and other business areas to ensure partnerships align with brand strategy and have a measurable ROI. Assists with implementation of sponsorship deliverables (on-site brand representation including physical space, marketing materials, etc.)

Monitor, benchmark new ideas/concepts in industry to identify high-performing sponsorship opportunities and make recommendations for future

Coordinate strategic corporate memberships with industry associations including NATSO, ATA and TCA, ensuring team members are aware and utilizing membership benefits; oversees membership budget and associated invoices

Corporate Giving

Manages/tracks overall budget linked to annual corporate giving, including marketing expenses associated with charitable campaigns

Coordinates and executes TravelCenters of Americas corporate giving and volunteer programs. Serves as a representative of the company in activities associated with volunteer activities and the community

Makes recommendations for highly-engaging corporate giving opportunities that align with the TA brand; proactively works with partners to identify efficient and measurable campaigns

Communications:

* Coordinates promotional and internal/external communication support for sponsorship, corporate giving and trade show/special event activities including team member training, photo, video, website, and social media content, and media opportunities.

* Supports internal communications efforts including creating and posting content on Intranet and developing internal weekly newsletter.

* Ensures TA online newsroom is updated with most updated media stories, press releases and other content

* Monitors brand compliance - logos, content tone, messaging methods and segment relevancy

* Assist in the formulation of the annual Marketing/PR budget and ensure the department stays within budgetary guidelines

* Monitor competitors products and services in the marketplace to ensure TA remains competitive with programs

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications or related field with Masters degree preferred.

* 6-7 years experience in marketing, marketing programs and related campaigns.

* Trade show and event experience required.

* Demonstrated experience in analytics, database management, financial reporting, creative design, print production, and inventory management.

* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

* Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign).

* Results-oriented with a high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

* Experience in B2C and B2B preferred.

* Creativity and a strong ability to take business challenges and develop effective marketing solutions.

Working Conditions

This is a corporate office position in a rewarding and fast-paced environment. Position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to being comfortable in engaging groups of any size. Overnight travel is required (10-15%) to support tradeshows, meetings and site visits as needed several times per year.

Physical Requirements

Position requires extensive sitting, viewing and utilizing computer equipment, keyboarding, listening and speaking with telephone equipment, walking and occasionally lifting 10 to 40 lbs.
