Job Summary: Exercises supervisory responsibility over work operations involving Automotive Workers Mobile Equipment Servicers Automotive Customer Service Clerks and Automotive WorkerCustomer Services Clerks grades PS4 to NA8. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises approximately 38 subordinates in grade NA8 NA5 and PS4 engaged in making repairs to variety of components parts accessories and parts of system of automotive vehicles rendering services and making adjustments such as tire and tube maintenance ignition tuneup lubrications oil changes battery service minor repair work and simple accessory installations and the preparation of work sheets for repair of vehicles setting up schedules taking special orders and handling customer complaints. Counsels employees adjusts informal complaints and grievances through discussions with employees and union representatives and initiates disciplinary actions as needed. Evaluates work performance of subordinate personnel and approves leave. Trains subordinates in the area of safety proper work procedures housekeeping and in the latest automotive techniques. Establishes work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Provides adequate staffing for all area of responsibility to assure the efficient and economical accomplishement of work assignments and insures the compliance of all safety regulations. Analyzes material and labor costs. Effects change in work assignments and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs. Takes necessary action to assure economical use and protection of supplies tools equipment and cash. Keeps abreast of latest techniques for automotive servicing. Determines equipment and materials required. Monitors work flow of commitments to insure that work will be completed or patron is aware of possible delay. Maintains necessary records of transactions and reports which may be required. Carries out EEO policies and communicate support of these policies to subordinates. Assures equality in determining qualifications selections assignments training promotions details discipline and awards to employees. Cooperates and participates fully in the development of an EEO Affirmative Action Plan and efforts regarding staffing motivation and training to develop all employees. Ensures that minorities and women are considered for training opportunities and are also nominatedappointed to boards and committees. Coordinates efforts with EEO officals and execution of policies affecting civilian personnel. Responsible for keeping abreast of developments policy issuances etc. in the equal employment opportunity field and fully supporting the NEXCOM Equal Employment Opportunity Program. Exercises tact good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This is expressed by tactfully responding to patrons in a prompt and friendly manner. Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who issues broad guidelines and instructions. Performs normal daytoday assignments independently and in compliance with existing rules regulations and policies. Work is reviewed in terms of efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Performs other related duties as assigned PHYSICAL EFFORT Is required to stand stoop bend stretch and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions where parts worked on are in hardtoreach places. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally may lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Normally works inside on concrete floors where it is drafty and noisy and where fumes form vehicles are present and occasionally outside sometimes in bad weather. Is exposed to dirt dust and grease and is subject to cuts bruises burns shocks and strains.
