Summary
You will serve as a MATERIALS EXPEDITER in the SUPPLY DEPARTMENT at the PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Responsibilities
You will receive materials, parts, components and assemblies undergoing test, repair, rework or manufacture.
You will examine items received to verify part number, identity, and quantity with routing documents, checking for discrepancies such as untagged parts attached or unreported damage.
You will ensure all previous processing has been completed by observing condition and appearance and checking routing documents for inspection sign off from each process.
You will dispatch and sub routes material between control points and between control points and shops.
You will write sub route shop orders for additional processing by other shops when greater than normal wear or damage is observed.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISON - Identifying major items and maintaining production, using knowledge of end item assemblies, stock and parts catalogs, specifications, prints, and technical manuals. Reading and interpreting all usual instructions and production control and supply documents, including requisitions, routing cards, and shop orders. Checking routing documents for accuracy, identifying errors, making corrections, adding needed information, preparing orders for materials, and preparing routing documents. Meeting production schedules and using onsite automated equipment and systems and production process and supply procedures at the activity in order to locate and expedite critical parts. Being knowledgeable of the proper handling and storage of specialized hazardous material and safety procedures gained through formal course study and on-the-job training. Being knowledgeable of proper material storage, including hazardous materials such as toxic chemicals, pesticides, flammables, and some explosives, and radioactive materials.
