Summary

About the Position: This position is with the 79th Sustainment Support Command (SSC), 646th Regional Support Group (RSG), 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC) located in Madison, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

Evaluate effectiveness of unit/activity safety programs.

Conduct Standard Army Safety and Occupational Health inspections.

Develop and recommends accident/ injury avoidance procedures.

Complete After Action Reports (AAR).

Investigate employee reports of unsafe/unhealthy working conditions.

Brief Commanders on unit safety program.

Provide Safety Training for military units/activities.

Prepare educational brochures to explain occupational safety procedures.

Interpret and advise on safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

Provide technical safety advice/assistance pertaining to specialized military activities.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work such as assisting with the development and implementation of a Safety Program; evaluating existing safety programs; inspecting workplaces or investigating work place accidents; and providing training to individuals on safe work practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
