Summary
Leads the growth of a diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem for Northwestern Mutual and the community to strengthen both the current and future NM tech workforce.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
* Accountable for both the portfolio development and management of technology pipeline programs designed to advance Tech talent strategies. These may include Tech internship program, high Tech (K-12 program), tech employer branding and identity, and other pipeline programs and large-scale experiences that engage both the current tech workforce and prospective future Tech workforce.
* Strategizes opportunities to increase the strength and diversity of the NM tech talent pipeline from elementary to career as well as ways to grow and diversify the Milwaukee region tech talent pool, particularly regarding the early career pipeline program.
* Partners with Technology Leadership and Human Resources on aligned talent and culture objectives in order to drive desired outcomes.
* Continuously scans the environment for relevant inputs and implications to the tech workforce plan, such as current and future technical skillsets and labor demands.
* Directs the overall accountabilities of individuals involved with program/project teams and ensures outcomes and results of those individuals.
* Maintains relationships between organizational teams; coordinates the individuals involved with program/project teams that impact the organization business processes and systems technologies.
* Partners with Corporate Communications and HR partners on internal workforce communications across the technology function in order to create alignment and cohesion.
* Engage NM Tech community in events / programs that provide valuable technical and professional development.
* Own the collaborative creation and execution of experiences that improve both the engagement of the current tech workforce and the strength and diversity of the NM tech candidate pool.
* Drive continued value from our investment in and connection to the tech ecosystem in our communities.
* Promote the Milwaukee region as a top place for diverse tech talent and tech businesses.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
* Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business, Human Resources or related field, with proven experience in a technology role or function in roles of increasing responsibilities.
* A minimum of 7 years of project management experience in technology and/or business function, with proven experience developing a portfolio of pipeline programs to advanced talent strategies.
* Solid understanding of project management / agile tooling.
* Demonstrated experience overseeing strategic technology pipeline programs.
* High degree of people and project management proficiencies.
* Strong communication, negotiation, administrative and leadership skills with all levels of management and across all multiple departments or organizations in a matrixed environment are critical.
* Strong organizational skills; able to handle competing demands, and work under tight deadlines and short timeframes.
* Strong problem solving and strategic/critical thinking skills. Ability to identify underlying issues and influence others without formal authority, particularly within a Technology organization.
* Facilitation and team building skills; ability to play an active, operational and communicative role.
* Interpersonal savvy and comfort interacting with and presenting to all levels of the organization, including senior leaders.
* Proven skills in dealing with ambiguity and paradox, and leading change.
* Outstanding discernment and focus on achieving business impact through progressive practices and sound business judgment.
