Our space systems connect and protect millions of people on earth every day, now and for the future. Explore your future and launch your career today!
We have an opening for an experienced, Top Secret cleared Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space Systems organization. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.
As an Electrical Engineer on the Simulation Hardware team, you will perform simulation hardware work on large commercial and non-commercial space programs. You should have studies in the electrical engineering field with strong mechanical knowledge and abilities. As part of the Simulation Hardware team, you will develop hardware to implement closed loop simulation for avionics flight computers on Space Vehicle (SV) testbeds. You will define requirements based on the program rsquo;s needs, select hardware to simulate SV component data and control interfaces, define testbed harness connections to avionics units and interfaces for simulating SV components, and test and integrate the completed simulation testbed with the avionics units. You are also responsible for the design and fabrication of the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and testbed which make up the Flatsat simulation system. The EGSE test sets are used to checkout, integrate, and operate the Flatsat testbed with integrated avionics. These test sets provide power, control, and telemetry. You will be part of a small Flatsat Design Team supporting a number of programs.
Responsibilities include:
* Rack, panel, and cable design, electrical interconnects and schematics, developing certification procedures, and hardware checkout/troubleshooting
* Root cause determination, problem resolution and documentation
* Interface with subsystem design engineers, flight software engineers, systems engineers, parts procurement, and assembly technicians, in order to provide support for various Flatsat and EGSE tasks
* Focus on the full design cycle of EGSE, from conception through design to fabrication and integration/test.
Prior work in an engineering organization and the ability to learn and excel as part of a simulation hardware development team is beneficial. Ability to debug simulation hardware and software for avionics integration and test environments using common lab equipment is preferred. Excellent writing, reading, and speaking skills are expected as you will be involved in the entire Flatsat system development, test, and operations lifecycle. Familiarity with typical spacecraft avionics communication standards and basic electrical engineering practices is beneficial.
