Position Description
The Senior Operations Research Developer is considered an analytical/procedural expert that will interact with various technology and business groups to develop an understanding of their business requirements and operational processes to optimize the indirect auto lending business. This position will focus on identifying and analyzing opportunities to improve existing algorithms and code for the next generation of Ally's credit decisioning optimization system. We are looking for someone who thrives on solving complex problems and will leverage their technical expertise and understanding of the financial services industry to develop a world class optimization engine. This individual will work closely with a broad group of matrix partners, including business operations, IT, Risk, Finance/Pricing, Analytical Modeling, and Product Management, etc. to implement business requirements systemically.
Job Responsibilities
* Develop and support a real time, high availability optimization system using mathematical models, simulations and data analysis
* Implement robust optimization models for new strategies related to pricing, profitability and solving for alternate loan options
* Perform analysis of the performance of these systems under uncertainty using optimization tools such as XPRESS to find both exact and heuristic solution strategies for optimization problems
* Create computer simulations to support operational decision-making
* Recommend process optimization to allow for greater efficiency via existing and new technology
* Interpret, design and codify business requirements from key stakeholders, both internal and external
* Develop and manage integrations with other applications
* Provide support and respond to production issues, perform troubleshooting, and initiate improvements to the overall application design
* Advise and collaborate with governance resources to create detailed documentation, controls, testing and governance processes
* Advise and collaborate with product managers regarding system viability and design related to implementing business requirements
Qualifications
* College degree(or equivalent experience) in Operations Research, MIS or computer science with a strong mathematical/statistical background or related technical field strongly preferred
* Experience in mathematical programming, including non-linear/ mixed integer programming in Xpress-Mosel, CPLEX, Gurobi, SAS OR, MATLAB or other open source solvers (such as AMPL, GLPK)
* Experience with Insight and Xpress-IVE
* Knowledge of query-based languages and accessing data sources
* Able to convey mathematical results in plain English, being able to clarify and formalize complex problems
* Experience in Java, C/ C++, R, Python, XML or SQL are desirable
* Experience and comfort with Agile methodologies
* Excellent problem solving, team and time management skills
* Ability and willingness to provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise and share technical knowledge and expertise to other resources
* Knowledge of general financial concepts -- P&L calculations, amortization schedules, basic understanding of interest rates, financial metrics, pro-forma models, etc a plus
