Our products leverage cutting edge voice technology, language models, natural language understanding, video analytics, and Machine Learning (ML) to enable our customers to focus on what matters while providing faster responses, safer outcomes and greater transparency. The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and engineers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow, Poland) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing mission-critical AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. Our mission is to provide meaningful value to MSIs customers by developing domain-specific applications and services in the areas of Speech & Audio, Machine Translation, Natural Language Understanding and Computer Vision.

Our AI team is focused on all aspects of 1) designing, prototyping and developing solutions (algorithms and architectures for object detection, classification etc.), 2) Machine Learning training and optimization (distributed training and inference acceleration) and 3) data (tools for data acquisition, annotation both human and machine-powered, data pipelines and supporting ML infrastructure). Were excited about the work we are doing in AI. We often describe it as Mission Critical AI because our approach is founded on our many years of Public Safety and Video Security experience and knowledge. We know the mission-critical needs of our customers are unique and different from the most consumer technologies that leverage AI today.

Job Description

MSI's AI Team is searching for outstanding software engineers to expand our Platform team. As a member of the team, this position will be focused on our video AI cloud platform facilitating the ability to build, deploy and run video AI models at scale in a distributed fashion.

* Contribute to and extend our distributed ML inference platform for video utilizing programming skills in C/C++.
* Develop modular, distributed applications which scale across dozens of servers and hundreds of GPUs.
* Build libraries and frameworks that support, operationalize and productize machine learning workflows for use both in product and by internal teams.
* Develop and maintain key backend components and APIs.
* Analyze field data in order to identify areas of possible improvement or enhancement of the system.
* Present and discuss ideas and results within the team and with internal stakeholders (product/project management, engineering etc.).

Required Skills:

* Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a relevant field
* Strong programming, debugging and problem solving skills in C++ 3+ years experience with OO design and common design patterns
* 3+ years experience with data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
* Experience with UNIX/Linux and basic knowledge of networking fundamentals
* Dependable written and oral communication skills

Desired Skills:

* Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
* Experience with image and/or video processing (e.g., open source software projects such as Gstreamer and FFmpeg).
* Background in parallel processing, CUDA, use of GPUs in image processing, and performance profiling
* Hands-on development of distributed system features and/or cloud scale services, and RESTful web services
* Activity in the Open Source community (e.g., github account as reference) is a strong plus.

Basic Requirements

* Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a relevant field
* 3+ years of strong programming and debugging experience (C++)
