Job Summary

Our projects include writing software for Comcast Network to ensure reliability and interoperability of different network devices used on our network, implementing a new security model for the network and implementing more secure and scalable alternatives to core internet services. We use the most pertinent tools from our toolbox to implement solutions that stand the test of time and scale.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:
Design and manage networking software and architecture for core and regional networks
Work closely with architects and engineers to design solutions
Collaborate with the team in designing a technical solution to a problem using the appropriate tools the right programming language, object-oriented methodology, frameworks, data modeling solutions, design patterns and open source software.
Write solid readable code that uses appropriate data structures and algorithms to solve a problem.
Organize all development efforts using Jira and Confluence within 2-week sprints.
Develop quick proof of concept solutions.
Analyze and determine integration needs.
Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
Displays in-depth knowledge of, and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:
Proficiency and breadth of experience in two or more programming languages(python/java/golang preferred). We use different languages based on the problem at hand. Currently, we use Python extensively.
Leverage public and internal cloud platforms/technologies to scale and add flexibility to solutions - AWS, OpenStack, Kubernetes.
Able to thrive in a Linux-based environment using containers or virtual machines.
You must have a reasonably good idea about how a packet traverses through a network basic routing and switching protocols, socket programming, packet header structures.
CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA or JNCIS certification preferred.
Ability to quickly grasp the working of network protocols while working closely with network architects and engineers.
Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, IS-IS and BGP

Job Specification:
- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
- Computer Science, Engineering
- Generally requires 2-5 years related experience
