Job Description

In the role as the Senior Designer Electrification Advanced System Design you will be responsible for design definition, system layouts, and part drawings for Electrification assemblies and components. Required to interface with Battery and Hybrid Engineering teams, and other engineering support personnel in various GM & supplier locations globally. Responsible for developing virtual vehicle integration solutions to support program requirements. A fully qualified contributor has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of virtual vehicle integration.

Responsibilities:

* Mentor for component/subsystem requirements, and GM CAD and Data Management System for their SMT area.
* Develops, refines, and finalizes Criteria and Typical Sections.
* Develops Standard Modeling and Virtual Integration Methods for their Program and SMT area.
* Proficient in Design Standards, Best Practices and Global Design infoBOOK Standards.
* Demonstrated application of design operations and processes (Standard modeling, Clearance Analysis, Vehicle Assembly Structure, Global Data Security, etc.).
* Applies manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts, subsystem designs and vehicle integration.
* Facilitates and participates in Design / Virtual Reviews, both scheduled and informal as required.
* Documents and maintains material, mass, and other part specifications within the Math file.
* Generates NX CAE studies and supports VDDV simulation team to improve initial design integrity.
* Completes, analyzes and applies NX Analysis results to solution set for their subsystem / components.
* Very knowledgeable of the Global Vehicle Development Process and the math fidelity for each cycle.
* Independently integrates component subsystem design into systems.
* Performs appropriate studies / alternatives / layouts and participates in recommendations to program direction.
* Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility.
* Supports lessons learned, best practices and learning sessions with fellow Designers.
* Creates math data(models) or virtual layouts of advanced, complex components, systems and subsystems.
* Identifies NX Template opportunities and actively pursues their creation and use.
* Proactively communicates effectively with all stakeholders.
* Releases system/subsystem to meet GVDP requirements with quality, on time.
* Actively identifies new areas for learning (i.e. NX CAE tool), takes advantage of learning opportunities, and utilizes usage of available tools.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills:

* Bachelors Degree in Product Design / Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
* A minimum 10 years experience or demonstrated proficiency with successful product design results
* Design and release experience of vehicle components or mechanical systems.
* Create math data (models) of advanced, complex components, systems and subsystems using UG NX software.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ensures seamless communication between sub-system groups.
* Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
* High level of project management skills.
* Working knowledge of automotive systems.
* Working knowledge of Battery Cells, Packs, and/or associated hardware (Electric Machines, Power Inverter Modules, etc.).
* Demonstrated ability to work independently.
* High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
* Knowledge of die casting, injection molding, stamping, and other manufacturing processes.
* A solid understanding of materials and components.
* Working knowledge of GD&T and drawing creation using UG NX software.

Preferred Skills:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
* Experience with GM engineering processes and software.
* Experience with GM GPS drawing standards.
