Overview
Position is for a Certified Medical Assistant or, a LPN will be considered. Experience is preferred in sterile technique and general surgery. Our team consists of 3 busy general surgeons who are are experienced with robotics and see many conditions including but not limited to hemorrhoids, lipomas, cysts, gallbladder disease, cancers of abdominal area, colon cancer, anal cancer, appendix problems, hernias and much more. Responsibilities include greeting and rooming patients, conducting intake, measuring and recording vital signs, assisting physicians with in office procedures, making follow up appointments , answering medical questions, relaying messages to physicians from patients, answering phones and performing front desk duties. Applicant must be friendly, caring, empathetic toward patients and family members, as well as knowledge of medical terminology. Applicant is also responsible for restocking patient rooms and setting procedures rooms up prior to patients arrival, as well as assisting surgeons using sterile technique and proper PPE. Applicant must also be team oriented and flexible as they will be rotating between front desk duties as well as rounding in the back between all three surgeons.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities :
* Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physicians
* Conducts patient intake, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse, temperature, blood pressure, height and weight) and recording in chart
* Reconciles health history and updates charts for all patients
* Calls patients ahead of office visit with doctor to be sure all health history is complete, accurate and assures that the patients chart is ready for visit
* Stocking supplies in exam rooms and reporting needed supplies to manager
* Answering calls to the MA/Nurse Line, returning patient calls and reporting any messages to the physicians
* Checking the medication refill line and putting in appropriate message to physician for refills as needed
* Front desk duties including, answering phone and making appointments, collecting co-payments, checking patients in and out, obtaining insurance referrals, entering patient referrals, scanning medical records, call for office notes as needed, and keeping waiting room clean as well as greeting patients upon arrival into office
Qualifications
Education :
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program or school for LPN
Experience :
* Computer knowledge
* EPIC EMR preferred but not required
* Time management
* Organizational skills
* Certified Medical Assistant or LPN license required
* Current American Heart Associated for Healthcare Provider BLS, required
* Sterile Field and General Surgery experience, preferred but not required
* Team oriented and works well with others
