Ethics & Society guides technical and experience innovation across Cloud + AI towards ethical, responsible, and sustainable outcomes. To bring this vision to fruition, we are looking for a passionate UX designer to help drive responsible innovation and principled design thinking through the creation of compelling human-centered experiences.
In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with product teams to drive collective success for program initiatives. You will utilize a mixed methods design skillset, combining traditional tools of user-centered design (e.g., wireframing, user journey mapping, interaction design) with a nuanced understanding of emerging technologies and public perception of those technologies.
Projects will cover a wide variety of modalities and product categories. You will partner closely with stakeholders in design, research, program management, engineering, science, policy, and legal to influence future experiences powered by machine learning and spatial computing. You will be expected to think beyond current conventions and be eager to learn more about the latest technology advances pertaining to artificial intelligence.
Most importantly, you will bring your optimism and pragmatism for shaping technology in ways that benefit people and communities; especially those that have been historically underserved or made invisible. You will also be expected to bring a curiosity about ethics issues related to privacy, security, inclusion, reliability, safety, transparency, and fairness. In turn, you will have the opportunity practically apply that curiosity as a means of shaping responsible innovation at Microsoft.

* Ability to work through an iterative end-to-end design process--including sketches, mockups, and prototypes.
* Strong portfolio showcasing interaction design samples.
* Excellent communication skills that combine respect, openness, and a bias for action.
* Intellectual curiosity to appreciate the complex ecosystems that your designs will operate in.
* Eagerness to operate in a collaborative, transdisciplinary, divergent, and often ambiguous working environment.
* Experience working with technical and timeline constraints in a product design role.
