The Orthotics Technician II is responsible for the proper fabrication of orthopedic appliances prescribed by the physician under the direction of the Orthotist. Must perform these tasks for infant, toddler, preschool, school age, adolescent and young adult (up to age 21) patients. Acts as a resource person to staff regarding assigned areas of responsibility. Participates as a member of the rehabilitation team and works with physicians, therapists, nurses, Orthotist and other personnel in the utmost professional manner as established in department and hospital guidelines.
Position Responsibilities:
* Receiving instructions on orthotic fabrication and management tasks from Orthotist and performs accordingly.
* Demonstrates the ability in understanding the instructions given and providing support and performing tasks with competency.
* Arranging work schedule to accommodate workflow
* Ability to prioritize and maintain a feasible workflow while keeping with established deadlines for each assigned tasks
* Interpreting prescription and performs tasks accordingly
* Demonstrates a general understanding of prescription terminology and technique involving the fabrication of the prescribed orthopedic appliance
* Operates shop equipment, machinery and tools in a safe and correct manner
* Demonstrates basic knowledge in the care and use of shop equipment, machinery and tools
* Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide population specific care which include age (infant, toddler, preschool, school-age, adolescent, and young adult patients) and culture, providing proper intervention in accordance with department guidelines
* Performs other duties as assigned.
