Your Role and Responsibilities
You will lead a high-performing software development group focused on developing the next generation of AI-infused infrastructure management products for our Cloud Pak portfolio of products. Your management expertise, deep technical skills, and open-source development background will position you to be a key leader driving our open-core technology strategy through your team.

You will have excellent people skills and use them to motivate your team and negotiate scope and missions within organization. You will have extensive experience leading software development organizations, and a passion for delivering high quality software using an agile process. Your work will involve close collaboration with Executives, Senior Managers, Architects, and Offering Managers across our global organization.

Responsibilities...

* Hiring and people management of a department of software developers and technical staff

* Overseeing the quality, schedule and pace of software development in your organization

* Enabling your team to perform their best by negotiating resources and skill development to remove blocks and open new opportunities

* Handling performance management processes and working with the global management team

* Delivering customer value by effectively managing customer escalations as well as translating customer business needs into innovative solutions

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
* 5+ years management experience in a software product development organization

* Experience managing a department of between 10-25 developers, architects, testers and writers

* Deep expertise in open source development, having managed development in an open source community and achieved status in the community

* Deep expertise on infrastructure management technologies, both traditional (VMs), containers (Kubernetes, OpenShift) and cloud services

* Expertise in Ruby on Rails development in large scale projects

* Expertise in SQL, preferably PostgreSQL

* Knowledge of unit testing frameworks, preferably RSpec

* Knowledge of distributed version control systems, preferably Git

* Significant architecture experience with ManageIQ

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with remote office locations

* Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes
