Design Engineer-III

Huntsmans Advanced Materials Division is now searching for a new Design Engineer-III who will work closely with a cross-functional group consisting of marketing, engineering, and manufacturing employees to conduct advanced engineering design and development of electro-mechanical production and research equipment and processes. This role is an active, full member of the engineering team, located in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

As the Design Engineer-III, you will:

* Lead and assist in the development of new materials processing technologies and engineering aspects of carbon nanotube yarn and/or sheet production and post treatment engineering.
* Generates complex engineering designs, test fixtures and prototype set-ups to validate product design assumptions related to project goals such as functional, cost, reliability, manufacturing, and safety requirements.
* Competent in analytical engineering skills, calculations in static and dynamic electro-mechanical machine designs.
* Maintains a laboratory notebook to capture data and relevant design characteristics with an eye towards repeatability of experimentation and for reporting results to senior staff.
* Sets up prototype manufacturing equipment and conducts properties testing.
* Works independently and in groups to efficiently achieve project goals.
* Researches scientific literature relevant to innovative research and testing objectives.
* Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Skills and experiences required:

* A four-year degree in mechanical engineering, or elect-mechanical engineering.
* 10-15 years of experience in machine design related to motion processes.
* 10+ years of CAD / 3D modeling with Solid Works & PDM.
* Strong knowledge and use of machine shop tool operation preferable.
* Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word), MathCAD, JMP Statistics, preferable.
* Proven ability to work in a team and to establish effective professional working relationships with peers across disciplines.
