Privacy Policy Manager, Artificial Intelligence

Job Description

Facebook is looking for a Privacy Policy Manager with expertise in privacy and other public policy issues related to artificial intelligence and machine learning to join our Privacy and Data Policy team and help us develop and manage external policy initiatives and engagements on AI policy topics. The team's mission is to develop privacy-protective and innovative approaches to data that help bring the world closer together and improve people's lives. In this role, you'll help shape the company's external approach to AI governance issues while internally aligning our approach across our suite of applied machine learning products and services. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and cross-functional partners across the company, as well as with policy makers, academics, civil society representatives and industry peers, to develop and implement strategic external policy initiatives on AI related topics like privacy, fairness, transparency, amongst others. You'll serve as a subject matter expert for Facebook's global policy team on Facebook's approach to AI Policy and Governance and work with our teams to evaluate and respond to related legislative and regulatory developments. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a good team player, and creative problem solver that is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. This candidate will be deeply familiar with privacy and public policy issues in artificial intelligence. This candidate will also have a meaningful understanding of stakeholders and perspectives in the privacy and broader policy community, be able to use this understanding to promote privacy and responsible AI development in regard to Facebook's products and services, drive privacy improvements and responsible AI best practices across our industry, and reach collaborative solutions on AI governance. Privacy Policy Manager, Artificial Intelligence Responsibilities

* Track and analyze US and global legislative and regulatory proposals and policy trends around AI

* Work closely with cross-functional US and global teams to develop and communicate Facebooks positions on AI policy issues and proposals, including strategically drafting submissions for local policy audiences

* Synthesize external policy developments to provide actionable guidance to our product teams, including our Responsible AI team

* Serve as an effective representative for Facebook regarding privacy and other public policy issues related to AI, including in external meetings and conferences

* Design and implement strategies for engaging with external AI policy stakeholders, and develop content for US and global audiences (op-eds, position papers, etc.), to further FBs legislative and public policy positions

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree

* 6+ years of experience with privacy, data security, or technology policy issues (4+ years with advanced degree)

* Experience engaging with policymakers and external policy stakeholders on technology policy issues

Preferred Qualifications

* JD, MPP, or technical degree

* Experience with privacy and/or public policy issues related to artificial intelligence and machine learning

* Experience working directly with executives to support business decision making

* Understanding of AI and ML practices and the underlying technology

* Working familiarity with privacy legislative frameworks and AI governance models

* Experience with policy analysis
