Performs a wide variety of highly complex technical tasks which requires knowledge of engineering techniques and mechanical design theory in the creation of computer models to determine design solutions for electronic equipment and systems. Assists in the modifications of engineering design prototypes and/or first article electronic equipment in preparation for production design release of product. Assists in the creation of design documentation and release of documentation into the enterprise business systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assists in the development of new design/documentation techniques and procedures based on the current government or commercial publications.
* Documentation/database checking responsibilities for new documentation and design data release or revision to existing documentation and data.
* Provide knowledge and assistance in the PDM process for the release of documentation and design data into the company documentation and data control system.
* Assist in the area of training and mentoring of new design technicians and/or engineers in the current procedures for design and documentation release.
* Prepares, organizes and conducts technical training classes for other technicians in the areas of design techniques and standards, documentation procedures and standards, and operating techniques and procedures for the CAD hardware and software.
* Performs group leadership duties as assigned by area manager.
* Assist the CAD support team with testing and debugging of software tools as they are released by vendor.
* Using contract/project requirements: Provides highly skilled electro- mechanical design and design documentation technical support and project leadership with or without the assistance of mechanical or electrical engineers working in the areas of research, product design and development, product testing and manufacturing process improvement.
* Capable of completing design tasks based on knowledge of the product parameters or design requirements and with minimal involvement of the project engineer.
* Capable of performing tasks involving product collateral support in the fabrication/manufacturing areas and have the knowledge and understanding to provide design change and documentation revision system support with minimal involvement or assistance required from the Mechanical or Electrical Project Engineers.
* Applies knowledge of manufacturing, tolerancing, and producibility capabilities during the design process to ensure cost effective design.
* Assists engineering in determining and employing proper specifications for materials, finishes and processes, connectors or other electrical components, etc. during the design process.
* Completes the preparation of the necessary technical documentation for the release of Hardware design data into the company documentation control system.
* Acts as project design drafting leader and provides guidance and direction for other design and drafting personnel and engineering in solving problems regarding design standards and techniques and the preparation of the necessary documentation for the release of Hardware designs into the company documentation control system.
* Has an expert level understanding of the CAD and data management tools to enable completion of design tasks.
* Assists the CAD tool support team in testing and debugging of software tools as tool vendor releases them.
* Assist in development of new design/documentation techniques and procedures based on the current government or commercial publications for design/documentation requirements.
* May provide design database and documentation checking for new design and drawing release.
* May provide validation of change definition artifacts for revisions to existing design and drawing/documentation.
* May provide validation of revision capture definition into formal design and documentation data in accordance with defined change requirements.
* May prepare, organize and conduct technical training classes for other technicians in the areas of design techniques and standards, documentation procedures and standards, and operating techniques and procedures for the CAD hardware and software.
* Provides mentoring and training to new Electro-mechanical designers or engineers in the current procedures for design database and documentation release.
Basic Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or AA/AS degree or other 2-year post high school training with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
* Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
