PURPOSE: Dana is looking for an energetic and experienced individual to assist in launching Danas Sustainable Mobility Center (SMC). SMC is a world class training, prototype, and testing facility and this role will be responsible for overseeing CAPEX and other material procurement needed to launch the facility as well as lead initial process setups including layout. This individual will also play a key role in the development of the quality systems at SMC in accordance with Danas Quality Standards. Long term this position will be the contact for engineering to lead all material procurement and process development for prototype builds in the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) business.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead the launch activity at Danas Sustainable Mobility Center (SMC) as it relates to procurement and tracking of deliveries and capital budgeting
* Manage new equipment timelines and project cash flows to ensure accurate financial forecasting
* Ensure new equipment meets safety regulations and company standards
* Oversee the commissioning of equipment and verify runoff testing and other necessary testing to ensure proper functioning of all equipment
* Coordinate with GME (Global Manufacturing Engineering) and other functions to develop initial processes for the facility
* Interact with other Dana launch teams
* Coordinate with various quality contacts at WHQ to setup and implement quality processes for the SMC launch
* Act as point of contact for Applications Engineering team and coordinate to schedule and complete sample and prototype builds
* Develop relationships with local suppliers and identify proper specifications needed for build activities
* Lead design and development of new and innovative standard bill of processes (SBOP) required to assemble electrification components.
* Review BOMs and other pertinent information to ensure necessary materials are procured to meet build schedules
* Leads the develop of process technologies required to support long term product technology roadmaps in product and advanced engineering for electrification.
* Participates in stage gate design reviews for new customer programs and advanced development projects to ensure the design is following DFA/DFM.
* Lead process to share and deploy best practices for manufacturing and assembly of electrified systems across global locations and applicable business units.
* Work closely with Engineering and Quality to make sure purchased components meet quality standards
* Assist in the identification, implementation, and evaluation of lean initiatives relative to BEVs to help increase productivity and efficiency rates
* Coordinate with engineering, quality, operations purchasing and others to develop robust quality processes for all activities inside of SMC
* Coordinate with engineering to document process in a way that can be communicated and transferred to production
* Analyze and support engineering deviations and change requests
* Travel as necessary
* Performs other duties as required
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelors Degree in Engineering
* Manufacturing and assembly background 3-5 years experience preferred
* Proven understanding of various MRP tools
* Experience in pre-production, prototype and/or launch environment
* Demonstrated proficiencies with automotive and other motion systems
* Familiarity in a technical manufacturing environment preferred
* Electric Vehicle experience a plus
* Diagnostics experience in manufacturing environment (machine, equipment, etc.)
* High voltage safety knowledge preferred. Safety certifications a plus
* Proven excellent customer relationship management skills
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer literacy functions
* Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills
* Must be able to interact with all levels of the organization and may be required to facilitate workshops or presentations
* Must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally if needed
* Ability and willingness to make suggestions as to changes or improvements to the product and/or work area
