Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the Supervisor of Sterile Processing directs and coordinates the daily operations of Sterile Processing. The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, directing and coordinating operations within Sterile Processing, while ensuring a level of quality is maintained. The Manager will demonstrate proficient performance standards in performing daily work duties to meet department expectations. The Manager will continuously seek ways to improve processes, while overseeing supply and instrument inventory, including procurement, processing and repair. The Sterile Processing Department is responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of specific equipment and instruments used not only in OR but throughout the organization. The Manager will oversee the development and implementation of systems for evaluation of clinical competency of the SPD staff, helping to develop and update standards and policies, and will provide pertinent continuing education for existing staff, mentoring of new staff and performance improvement activities. In addition, the Manager assumes the administrative responsibilities of the department in the absence of the Department Director.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:

* Minimum Education: Completion of an accredited certified SPD Technician training program and current certification.
* Minimum Experience: 5 years sterile processing experience in an acute care setting; a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in sterile processing; demonstrated effective communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff in an organization. Strong organizational skills. Ability to effective manage technical processes and direct recovery when processes failures occur. Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of perioperative services in an acute care setting.
* Preferred Certification/Registration: Certification from the Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management; Bachelors Degree; Lean Six Sigma training.
