Purpose/Role:

This Senior Software Developer is responsible for leading the development activities related to the data ingestion in an AWS environment. The candidate must be highly skilled in architecting data structures for speed optimization, data results driven, customer focused, technologically savvy and skilled at building internal relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

* Serve as a senior contributing member to a team of IT professionals focused on building a data lake on AWS
* Own technical project delivery, lead in implementations, communication of results to leadership
* Alignment of data implementation patterns and techniques with IT strategy and architecture
* Provide technical leadership and expertise within the AWS environment
* Strong understanding of AWS fundamentals, Hadoop, BI, ETL, and data warehousing
* Coding skills in Java, Python and Scala
* Deliver big data programs in a regulated environment

Qualifications:

* Undergraduate degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field required
* MBA or related masters degree preferred
* Must have architected full lifecycle of data warehousing projects including ETL, Data Models and Business Intelligence tools
* Strong foundational knowledge and experience with distributed systems
* Development experience in Java, Scala, and Python
* Hands-on experience authoring SQL code
* Experience working with software development tools (e.g. Eclipse, Git, JIRA)
* Experience working with version control tools (e.g. SVN, GitHub, CVS)
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills including oral, written, and listening skills
* Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
* Ability to work in a global, fast paced, self-directed, action-oriented environment
* Experience with data analytics is highly beneficial
* Experience in life science industry is highly beneficial
