Job Description Summary
Responsible for working closely with business development officers and/or agents, selling banks/financial institutions and borrowers and loan processors to approve and recommend SBA loan requests from a variety of industries and businesses using bank and government policies. Generally handles loan requests of moderate to high complexity.
Essential Job Functions
* Spreads and analyzes business and personal financial data.
* Utilizes sound credit underwriting skills to recommend a credit decision, and to prepare appropriate internal and external reports to obtain necessary bank and government agency approvals.
* Approves loans within the prescribed limits of individual lending authority. Serves as contact officer on loans that exceeds individual lending authority.
* Meets or exceeds all assigned production goals and objectives.
* Negotiates, where necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended including the costs, repayment method and collateral requirements.
* Develops support information and makes loan presentations to senior credit management, when requested. Follows up on loans submitted whether recommended for approval or declined.
* Maintains excellent relationship and customer service with all clients, government partners and co-workers.
* Maintains a working knowledge of the bank's lending policies, procedures, and philosophies toward various types of loans which may include, but is not limited to, SBA loans, commercial real estate loans and construction loans.
Other Job Duties
* Understands and promotes bank philosophies, personnel, products, services programs, campaigns and goals to staff and public.
* Assists with special projects as needed.
Education
* Bachelor's Degree Finance
Work Experience
* P3 - 5 yrs Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management.
Requires 5 years minimum prior relevant experience.
Skills
* Strong understanding of small business and owner-occupied commercial and real estate lending as it pertains to underwriting and loan structuring.
* Experience in financial statement analysis
* Working experience in SBA and other government-assisted lending programs, with knowledge of the SBA standard operating procedures
* Knowledge of commercial and real estate loan processing
* Knowledge of personal computer software (Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and related software)
* Excellent customer service skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work independently, organize and coordinate multiple tasks, and follow through to completion
