Job Summary
The Senior Lease Accountant is a key member of the Lease team. This position will be responsible for developing and supporting process automation and lease accounting.
The Senior Lease Accountant will have 3 primary functions:
1. Work with operations and other team members to organize, reconcile and streamline all ASC 842 lease detail
2. Developing and implementing new processes and tools utilizing various business technologies like Excel, Power BI, CoStar, and Cloud Fusion
3. Review current processes/tools for improvement opportunities
Primary Responsibilities
1. Interpreting 842 Lease Accounting Standards and maintaining the CoStar database system
2. Prepare/update monthly Journal Entries to be compliant with ASC 842
3. Prepare monthly Right of Use Asset and Lease Liability reconciliations
4. Prepare a rollforward of all applicable accounts to assist in reporting
5. Read contracts and assist with set-up of all new leases and validation of lease data and attributes
6. Build tools and processes to enable business process improvement initiatives by automating repetitive processes, improving controls through standardization of workflows, providing enhanced analytical capabilities, and performing complex calculations on large data sets
7. Develop and maintain documentation needed to understand and maintain solutions
8. Collaborate with IT to integrate new data elements and facilitate data transformations
Minimum Requirements
Education, Required Skills & Competencies
1. Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems/Technology or related field
2. Strong GAAP skills with knowledge of ASC 842
3. 3+ years of relevant professional experience
4. 3+ years GL Account Reconciliation experience
5. Proficient in software such as Excel, Power BI, CoStar, and Cloud Fusion
6. Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking
7. Ad-hoc reporting experience
8. Able to define a problem, generate potential solutions, and evaluate those solutions
9. Willingness to learn new tools and techniques
10. Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
11. Able to work in a team environment and on individual projects/tasks with a high level of independence
12. Strong sense of ownership and accountability
