The Electric Operations Distribution Asset Health and Performance Center team is PG&E's innovation hub for improving the safety and reliability of the electric distribution system. The Distribution Asset Health and Performance Center team launches new innovative solutions PG&E needs to safely & reliably operate the grid of the future with a focus on risks created by climate change. It employs and operates technologies/applications that provide data for real time grid monitoring and analytics of asset health & performance to become predictive of developing problems on the distribution system enabling PG&E to implement proactive maintenance activities
Position Summary
Distribution Asset Health and Performance Center Operations Systems Engineers evaluate, pilot, and implement cutting edge technologies, which plays a key role in PG&E's vision of building and maintaining a safe and reliable system in our continually changing environment. They have a crucial role in defining and executing innovative technology and pilot projects that enable this vision.
Asset Health and Performance is looking for a talented summer intern to help support the evaluating, piloting, and data analytics of key technology demonstration projects. Key responsibilities include but is not limited to:
* Mentoring with Engineers and Data Analysts to learn more about the distribution system
* Assisting with scheduling & dispatching of key technology projects; Provide project management support
* Assisting in field activities including training, deployment, QA processes
* Collecting & analyzing asset performance data to identify trends and potential hazards for mitigation
* Producing management information & reporting; Maintaining records in PG&E's data repository
* Developing and presenting successful storyboards and presentations to various levels of employees
The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Engineers, Data Analysts, Field Operations, & Senior Management. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Distribution Grid Operations organization through the work they will be performing. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an individual that desires to learn and develop a career in the Engineering Field with PG&E and Electric Operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Earning a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related engineering field (students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship).
* Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date
Desired:
* EIT or FE certification
* 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
* Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
* Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
* Microsoft office suite (excel, power point, word, project management, etc.) and other
