The Patient Access Registrar is the initial contact most patients have with the hospital; therefore, his/her role is to create a sense of caring and congenial atmosphere for the patient. The Patient Access Registrar is responsible for registering all inpatient, outpatient, emergency and surgical patients for services. These duties include interviewing patients for demographics and insurance information, inputting the information into the system, completing appropriate forms, obtaining proper signature(s), advising patients of rights and reasonability and for collecting co-pays and deductibles at time of service. Responsible for answering phones and directing patients.
Job Requirements
Requires: Accurate typing skills and basic experience with computers; ability to communicate and comprehend accurately and effectively; ability to perform math calculations accurately; percentage rates discounts, payments etc.; must possess high quality, positive interpersonal skills; able to work with moderate level of noise and interruptions; ability to discuss financial matters in detail over the phone; ability to ensure customer satisfaction by courteously responding to billing inquiries, researches account and properly records all account tracking; and promotes an environment that encourages team building by being cooperative and courteous with ancillary departments and assisting other employees. High School graduate or GED (preferred). Expected Salary 14.00 plus applicable shift differentials. PRN positions are utilized as needed, do not have guaranteed hours and no medical benefits package is offered. Company provided Employee Assistance Program. All positions require completion of post-offer drug screen and background check (includes; employment, criminal and education) is required.
