Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor or General Laboratory Supervisor, responsible for routine and STAT phlebotomy, specimen processing and assisting with routine clerical duties, filing and telephone reception. This position serves both inpatients and outpatients of all ages. This position has limited authority over phlebotomy students
Qualifications:
Mandatory
* Current Phlebotomy Certificate which meets current California standards
* High school graduate or equivalent
* 1 year practical experience as laboratory assistant or recent completion of phlebotomy program
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to type or otherwise demonstrate proficiency with computer keyboard
* Must be able to lift 25 pounds
* Must be able to work effectively in a clinical laboratory with various electronic and mechanical testing instruments as well as a variety of manual testing kits which may often employ chemicals and compounds which can be harmful or hazardous if handled inappropriately
