This is an Emergency Department of Nursing Service position that provides delivery of patient care with the knowledge of a Registered Nurse. Must demonstrate the clinical ability to work as Primary RN on the Unit to which assigned. Must be able to coordinate the delivery of patient care on the Unit; completes required documentation; participates in patient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process. Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting. Provides the basic leadership required of a Registered Nurse for subordinate staff on the Unit. Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing Process, the Utah Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, State regulations and established Hospital Policies and Procedures. Strives daily to give all customers quality care and promotes Castleview Hospital's Standard s of Performance and other duties as assigned. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Communicates with Emergency Department physicians/ director/ charge nurse/ co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patients clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Is able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the ER Department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care as described in the unit's policies and procedures and skills check lists.

Job Requirements

Valid Utah or Compact States nursing license. BLS within 60 days of hire. ACLS within 3 months of hire, ENPC within 6 months of hire. TNCC or ATCN within one year of hire.
