JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot signal processing hardware dedicated to unique, customer-specific applications. Design hardware systems leveraging GOTS hardware with specific signal processing capabilities. Interact with multiple distinct stakeholder groups to determine and refine requirements. Build designs in Visio-like GOTS software package. Ensure build engineers appropriately build all hardware systems. Design test procedures to test signal processing hardware systems. Possibly travel with implementation teams to install new systems or system upgrades. Ensure all signal processing systems are running according to design. Troubleshoot issues within the system, whether they are hardware or software related.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or similar technical field, or equivalent work experience. Understanding of electronic and/or electromagnetic signals. Firm understanding of OSI network model. Experience working with one or more Internet-based network protocols. Understanding of the function of FFTs through formal training or work experience. Ability to perform basic Linux user functions. College-level understanding of physics.
Preferred:
FPGA programming experience. Experience working with optical signals. Demonstrated understanding of the physics underlying optical communications. Experience programming in MatLab. Experience with XMidas. Proven ability to design systems on a power budget. Network engineering experience designing and configuring systems based on routers and switches.
