About you

You love a challenge and are ready to help reinvigorate one of the internets biggest and best brands. You'll need strong attention to detail, and have a keen sense of production cadence, as well as an eagerness to seek design problems at scale. You care about making phenomenal products and are willing to craft and test, and iterate to get to the best solutions. You have the ability to negotiate and evolve design with partners in the project team, and ensure the integrity of the design is upheld. You should be knowledgeable about our competitors, understand established design patterns and standard methodologies, but always feel the need to do better.

Responsibilities

* Build and manage a team of product designers, who raise the bar on user experience at eBay

* Oversee the user experience of a product from conception to launch in partnership with product managers, engineers, UX researchers and content designers

* Contribute design and customer perspective to roadmap and planning processes

* Develop your designers to improve their craft through regular design critique and feedback

* Deliver improvements to craft process and system

* Communicate across organizational boundaries to drive better and faster decisions for our customers

* Effectively communicate your team's product goals (both within the team and outside the team), and connect related projects across the company so that problems or joint decisions can be resolved quickly

Essential qualifications

* 5+ years of proven experience as a lead / manager of product design in a technology led company, or similar role

* Bachelors degree in Design or equivalent

* Expert knowledge of the end-to-end iterative product design process, including how to develop and use personas, journey mapping, content modeling, wireframing and prototyping, user testing, and visual designs

* Ability to cultivate an understanding of industry trends and communicate your ideas to the design org as a whole

* A portfolio that showcases relevant design projects and includes your process, design explorations and final work

* Able to understand detail and find radically simple solutions that delight users
