Primary Responsibilities

In order to enable a vibrant marketplace with millions of millennial buyers, sellers, we at eBay are employing ground breaking machine learning methods to build an outstanding AI-based Customer Service platform. We are looking for hardworking applied scientists to work on problems in Natural Language Understanding, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. You will work with fellow researchers and engineers at eBay to develop and deploy AI components in these areas that will enable faster, personalized and more natural user-experience on our platform.

Responsibilities:

* Works on one or more technical areas of applications of Natural Language
* Understanding, Probabilistic Inferencing/Reasoning, or Machine Learning
* Develops and demonstrates viability of novel prototypes in the context of eBays platform and data
* Collaborates with other research teams in eBay to build a best-of-breed experience
* Keep up-to-date with the latest technology trend

Required Qualifications:

* MS or PhD in computer science or related fields with at least 2 years of relevant industrial experience
* Background in Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in Python, JAVA, Scala or C++
* Experience with fast prototyping
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Strong analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* At least 5 years of related work experience
* Strong background of innovation with publications
* Hands-on experience with Deep Learning
* Experience with NLP toolkits such as NLTK, OpenNLP, Stanford CoreNLP or Deeplearning4Js NLP framework
* Experience with open source toolkits such as TensorFlow, Deeplearning4J, PyTorch or CNTK
