Job Description:
The Large Power System Division currently has a Senior Engineering - Design position located in Mossville, IL. In this role, you will support the develop of components and systems to meet the thermal management requirements for battery or fuel cell powered systems. You will work closely with engine and packaging groups to understand application requirements, analysis teams to develop system design and component selection and purchasing to develop the supply base.
This individual must have good communication skills to effectively collaborate with various product development teams to deliver validated design solutions to our challenging Power system program deliverables and timelines simultaneously.
Job Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Provide technical and application systems expertise of thermal management for emerging markets demanding Battery / Fuel Cell powered solutions
* Understanding of global industry standards and trends to provide the latest technology solutions
* Provide application engineering support to identify the ideal battery thermal management components and integrate into the desired application within given constraints, such as cost, quality, performance, and timing
* Strategic support considering Life-Cycle Management, cost reduction, system performance evaluation, and supplier engagement
* Co-Lead DFMEA, DVP & R (design verification plan & report) component development
* Develop supply base for components with purchasing
* Visit supplier to help supplier process improvement
* Some travel (10%) to CAT product group customers, suppliers and Caterpillar manufacturing facilities is required

Required Qualifications
* Bachelors degree or above in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Aeronautical engineering
* 5+ years of component design or validation in battery or fuel cell powered equipment
* Deep understanding, awareness, and knowledge of industry technologies, suppliers, and markets for automotive or equipment and industrial energy storage systems utilizing battery or fuel cell power plants
* Familiarity with automotive and industrial energy storage system designs and best practices for thermal management
* Strong Interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
* Self-starter with good multitasking skills to optimize and deliver desired results under challenging requirements of quality, cost and timelines
