Position Summary
* As an Analytical chemist/scientist you will be responsible for developing and validating analytical methods by HPLC/UPLC, and other analytical techniques, such as GC and UV-Vis (for raw materials, and finished goods). You will also support with some wet chemistry techniques for extractions, troubleshooting analytical techniques, interpreting documentation, reporting finding/reports and providing training and guidance to other RD departments on the results and test methods.
This position will be responsible for following applicable GMP, FDA, and internal requirements in regards to Chemistry test methods, documentation, equipment, procedures and training. Responsible for maintaining current, validated test methods, writing lab procedures, calibration of lab equipment and maintaining applicable records. Assures compliance to 21CFR Part 11 and current Data Integrity regulations. Responsible for prioritizing, good organization, maintain excellent, detailed, accurate documentation and files for records/audit purposes.
Job Description:
* Leading the testing for our raw materials; this includes standard test methods and evaluation of chemical attributes to make decisions on their phytochemistry for inclusion into our product portfolio.
* Perform physical and chemical testing/extractions using wet chemistry techniques and analytical instrumentation.
* Develop new capabilities for analytical test methods and standards.
* Ensure that analytical equipment is maintained and utilized correctly and efficiently
* Lead investigator into various formulation attributes, when necessary.
* This position will also collaborate with the broader Estee Lauder Analytical department to ensure compliance and standardization of testing.
* This individual will also be working to develop SOPs, methods and IQ/OQ/PQ of our instrumentations.
* Recognizes and shares new approaches to drive lab efficiency and/or effectiveness
* Also responsible for entering and revising data as well as reports.
* Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with chemists, management and raw material suppliers
Independence of Action and Accountability: Works independently with minimum supervision to complete evaluation of raw materials (80%).
Problem Solving: Evaluates raw materials for appropriate tests and results for acceptability.
Reports out information (20%).
Qualifications
Minimum Education Level: BA or BS in Chemistry
Minimum Years of Experience: 2

* Must have strong technical skills in analytical chemistry and instrumentation including HPLC/UPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and other analytical equipment.
* Able to work independently and record your own results while following regulations.
* Hands on experience developing, validating and transferring analytical methods
* Detailed orientated mindset
* Intellectual curiosity to trouble shoot formulation and raw material problems
* Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and planning skills.
* Knowledge of USP/NF, FCC, AOAC, and other compendial monographs required.
* Knowledge of ASTM and ISO standards preferred.
* Strong knowledge of FDA Regulations, ICH Guidelines, and cGMP Procedures required.
* Safety compliance and adherence mandatory.
* Knowledge of cGMP and cGLP is necessary. Must be able to follow cGMP guidelines for good documentation practices
* Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with chemists and management.
* Microsoft Office and Access knowledge a plus.
* Experience working in a regulated environment.
Maintain Equipment, as well as establishing SOPs for the use of the equipment.
