Job title: US Medical Affairs, Medical Communications Intern
As an AbbVie Summer Intern, you will participate in a paid, ten-week summer program that is focused on providing students with robust projects throughout the summer. As an intern, you will either be located virtually.
General Position:
The 2021 Medical Communications summer internship program provides the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with the different functional areas of the Medical Affairs organization (e.g., Medical Communications, Medical Review, Field Medical, Medical Sciences, Evidence Generation, as well as Scientific & Patient Advocacy). Interns will have the opportunity for a broad exposure to various related roles (e.g., Commercial, Regulatory, Safety/Pharmacovigilance) within Abbvie SF. The program accentuates the growth and development of its participant by providing networking opportunities, career development and involvement in projects that make a significant contribution to the Medical Affairs organization.
Assignment Details:
* Contribute to authoring and ensuring medical accuracy of medical information resources (e.g., standard response letters, frequently asked questions, and field medical tools).
* Assist with evaluating and drafting customized responses to escalated cases received from the vendor call center.
* Assist with evaluating medical accuracy of External Medical Education (e.g., field medical tools, advisory board content) and promotional materials.
* Assist with reviewing non-promotional materials for medical accuracy.
* Review relevant articles of interest to perform assigned journal club(s) and present analyses and findings to the broader Scientific Communications team.
* Assist with supporting communications to compendium and pathways regarding changes to the US Prescribing Information and relevant data releases.
* Support all other medical communications activities as needed.
* Identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders in Medical Affairs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Completed at least two years of graduate education before beginning internship.
* Currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited University Masters/graduate program with a major in biology, chemistry, neurobiology, pharmacy.
* Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent.
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing a Masters, pharmD, PhD
* Strong verbal and written communication skills is required.
* Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment.
* Must be able to work independently as well as be a cross-functional team player, as needed.
* Excellent organization and planning skills.
* Strong Scientific & Medical terminology acumen.v
