It is the primary responsibility of the Gardener Foreman to to ensure that the appearance and maintenance of exterior areas of the property are esthetically pleasing. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices, and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mows grass, trims trees and shrubs, fertilizes lawns, plants materials, irrigates lawns and aerates plant areas.
Distributes proper fertilizers, insecticides and organic materials.
Removes weeds and transplants trees and plant material.
Periodically examines all plants for evidence of disease or insect infestation.
Grades and plants when necessary.
Installs and repairs irrigation systems, automatic timers and valves.
Gathers and disposes of all debris, i.e., paper or leaves found on planted areas throughout the property.
Performs minor service and repairs on power equipment used by the landscape department, including lubricating
equipment, adding fuel, oil, and water when needed.
Ensures all equipment and work areas are kept clean and clear of any safety hazards.
May be asked to care for interior plant material.
Performs other related duties and assists other trades as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
3 years experience in exterior landscape gardening
High school diploma or equivalent.
PREFERRED:
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
Knowledge of all exterior maintenance, plant and tree identification, insect identification and control, irrigation parts and
installation, fertilizers, and landscape installation, experience with large equipment and able to operate power mowers,
edgers, sprayers and chainsaws (small and large).
