Job Summary:

Primary technical accounting resource and will lead efforts to document and implement LKQ accounting policies across the organization.

Essential Job Duties:

* Serve as primary technical accounting resource for organization perform research on accounting matters raised by management or the field
* Provide support to international operations related to local / US GAAP conversion and other technical matters
* Partner with finance and functional leaders to develop, implement and operationalize standardized accounting policies and procedures
* Promote global consistency, adoption of best practices, and alignment with US GAAP in finance and other business transformation initiatives
* Develop, update and maintain accounting policy documentation, with a focus on widespread access and improved usability
* Track standard setter updates and impact to the company; implement new standards as they become effective
* Assist in reviews of external filings to provide policy viewpoint and technical accounting support
* Work with field and finance personnel to document new and / or unique accounting transactions
* Ad hoc special projects as needed
* Assumes other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

* Responsible for direct reports within the Global Accounting Policy team (expected to have one senior level direct report). Supervisory responsibilities include effective hiring and training of all employees as well as the periodic review of employee performance to ensure that each employee is at least meeting defined expectations.

Requirements

Education & Experience

* 5+ years in accounting roles
* Accounting degree / CPA
* Public company experience either through direct work experience or audit

Preferred Qualifications

* Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
* Public Accounting experience
* Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong organizational / project management skills

Must have good written and verbal communication skills

Strong technical accounting skills (experience in purchase accounting and derivatives preferable)

Knowledge of SEC rules and regulations and experience with SEC filings

Ability to understand and interpret legal documents (e.g. customer contracts, credit agreements)

Ability to think critically with strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Able to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel

Experience using COGNOS Controller and / or Oracle general ledger or other consolidation system would be helpful

Solid understanding of internal controls

Ability to work and communicate effectively with various levels of operational and corporate management teams

Ability to seek out relevant information

Ability to document information gathered from multiple sources into policies and procedures that can be used throughout the organization

Possess strong work ethic and commitment to completing responsibilities in a deadline driven environment

Positive attitude and personality ability to energize team to complete project

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

* Must have the ability to work under conditions of frequent interruptions
* Attentive to detail.
* Occasional travel - Up to 25% (to shared services centers, headquarters offices, other accounting centers across the company)

•  2011 acquisition of Euro Car Parts Holdings Limited ("ECP"), a vehicle mechanical aftermarket parts distribution company operating in the United Kingdom. This acquisition allowed us to expand our operations into the European automotive aftermarket business.

•  2013 acquisition of Sator Beheer B.V. ("Sator"), a vehicle mechanical aftermarket parts distribution company based in the Netherlands, with operations in the Netherlands, Belgium and Northern France. This acquisition allowed us to further expand our geographic presence into continental Europe.

•  2014 acquisition of Keystone Specialty, which expanded our product offering and increased our addressable market to include specialty vehicle aftermarket equipment and accessories.

•  On December 22, 2015, LKQ announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the holding company of Rhiag-Inter Auto Parts Italia
•  S.p.A (“Rhiag”), a leading pan-European business-to-business distributor of aftermarket spare parts for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Rhiag has operations in Italy, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland and Spain. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2016 and is subject to customary closing conditions and necessary regulatory approvals.
