Job Description

At Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer to join our team, whose mission is to design, build, and test future consumer VR and AR experiences. As part of our team, you will develop state-of-the-art R&D test and measurement systems that quantify the performance of next generation prototypes. You will become part of a team chartered with the exploration of new technologies, and will enable data driven decision making for future HW designs. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, and are able to operate in an ambiguous research environment to help pathfind and converge on promising designs. The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Test Research and Development Lead Responsibilities

* Research, design, and develop new test and measurement infrastructure to quantify the performance of HW prototypes

* Design and conduct experiments that inform future HW prototypes through statistical analysis

* Create test and measurement roadmaps in collaboration with engineers and research scientists

* Establish and refine processes, best practices, and tools that accelerate research and development

* Understand new technologies and design tradeoffs, and support the team through technology pathfinding, rapid prototyping, and evaluation

Minimum Qualifications

* BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent industry experience

* 5+ years experience working on complex engineering and tester designs

* Experience with use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators

* Experience with 3D design modeling, schematic and PCB design

* Experience leading test definition, prioritization, and execution

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent for test automation and statistical analysis

* Experience leading technical teams, cross-functional groups, and external vendors

* Experience applying strong statistical analysis to ambiguous problems

* Familiarity with VR/AR systems, wearable technologies, and/or biosensing applications
