JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for assisting and supporting Product Category Manager(s) and specialist(s) in performing all duties necessary in the product management team of HSD. The responsibilities include: new product activities, item maintenance, pricing maintenance, category reporting, sales flyer and catalog preparation. Also responsible to lead department initiatives as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
NEW PRODUCT ACTIVITIES:
* Collects information of incoming new products to support the PCM. Ensures all necessary information is obtained to facilitate a timely review. Enters all product submissions, and contacts suppliers for product and pricing information. Obtain product descriptions for catalog and ecommerce platforms. Compile and runs competitive product comparisons.
* Coordinate all new product activities including launch packages, trainings, etc.
* Coordinates new supplier setup process which includes reviewing and circulating information to internal teams.
CURRENT PRODUCT LINE MANAGEMENT:
* Performs regular review of A-system and/or ecommerce classifications, item descriptions and images to ensure the integrity of product content.
* Implements system changes relating to product availability (i.e. help windows, substitutions).
* Assists PCM in reviewing and implementing any selling price changes resulted from price pend reports, including entering price change into the system.
* Assists PCM in identifying slow/high moving skus and implements any necessary changes to stocking status and catalog and web presentation.
* Research pricing for competitive pricing process.
* Assists in supplier meeting preparation including obtaining agendas, running and printing required reports.
* Assist PCM in producing monthly category analysis reports, including preliminary sales trends analysis.
* Assist PCM in sales and market share analysis, identifying underperforming categories, coordinating plans and programs to drive sales and market share in both branded and private brand products.
CATALOG/FLYER PRODUCTION:
* Prepares sales, specialty, and category flyer pages including layout and all pricing.
* Obtain and enter deals, chargebacks, exclusive and national offers. Follow up with Inventory Management on the status of deals.
* Collaborates with the PCM in the catalog production process including all supplier changes, trafficking catalog sections, proofing pages and updating index.
OTHER:
* Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required
KNOWLEDGE:
Intermediate level professional; developing knowledge within own discipline. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity required to perform tasks. Frequently apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field. Apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
COMPLEXITY:
Work on problems of limited to moderate scope and impact where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures to solve straightforward problems. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practice to determine appropriate action. Build productive internal/external working relationships.
SUPERVISION:
Receive a moderate level of instruction on day-to-day work and detailed instruction and guidance on new projects or assignments.
Qualification
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 2 to 4 years of related professional experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelors Degree or global equivalent in related discipline.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
