How You Will Make an Impact as a Member of the Global Contracts Team
As part of the Clean Technologies Global Contracts team, this team member will be preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other commercial documents and providing support and advice to a global technology licensing business, and actively participating in the development and leveraging of best contractual practices to ensure proper risk management and safeguarding of intellectual property while facilitating success and growth of the business.
What you will do:
This team member will perform the critical tasks of drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing customer and supplier agreements and other commercial documents from the pre-proposal stage throughout the life of projects, including license agreements, engineering agreements, confidentiality agreements, equipment and catalyst sale agreements, sales representative agreements, and customer and supplier terms and conditions for equipment or service orders; providing training to internal clients on a variety of contractual topics and assisting the business in facilitating resolution of customer issues and concerns from a contractual perspective.
This team member will interact with other teams within the Clean Technologies business unit and with DuPont corporate functional teams, such as engineering, licensing, sales and purchasing, insurance, tax, finance and legal, as well as with external customers and suppliers, requiring the ability to understand and frame contractual and related business issues. Effectiveness in this role requires a full understanding of the Clean Technologies business unit and its offerings as well as a strong working knowledge of contract law. Multiple tasks must often be performed contemporaneously, requiring understanding of corporate structure, available resources and personnel, and relevant compliance, regulatory, finance, and legal issues. The ability to juggle multiple projects and recognize when to seek advice from or escalate matters to management, legal, other company personnel, or external consultants is important.
Job Qualification
* Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Business, Engineering, Law or other relevant discipline
* Demonstrated ability and experience in contract drafting, reviewing and negotiating with a working knowledge of contract law.
* Ability to quickly grasp and frame legal and related business issues and resolve problems of highly diverse scope and moderate complexity.
* Effective time management of competing priorities while handling several concurrent assignments.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with business acumen to make sound decisions and recommendations to business management and technical teams.
* Experience in an engineering or other technical/industrial company with international customers and partners and experience in technology licensing is preferred.
* Ability to travel, including internationally. Travel is typically infrequent but may be up to 20% during unusual periods.
* Remote candidates will be considered. However, would be expected to be in Overland Park, KS office regularly (at least monthly) in addition to business travel.
